Key Accountabilities
Work at Transmitter sites, corporate locations, data centres, customer studios and 3rd party sites with equipment such as MF/FM/DAB Radio, TV, Network, SHF, Optical, Programme equipment, Broadcast equipment, Fibre systems, Satellite, RF equipment, Telemetry, Distribution Amplifiers, Servers & Routers and power systems
Install various cable types and looms including Ethernet, coax, multicores, copper, fibre, and power, in various locations and containment (internal/external, cable tray, basket and ladder which can be underfloor, above head height and within risers)
Install various technical equipment (including power connections to MDUs and UPS), GPS Antenna (ground works) and Sync
Connect program equipment, telemetry equipment, SHF equipment, MUXs, including patching over various interconnections
Configure network equipment including switches and router. Understanding of basic IP technology (IP addressing and routing tables) would be beneficial. Software patches and provision of E1 circuits also required.
Commission and Test equipment such as transmission; testing programme feeds and content; including network, telemetry, fibre, optical, PDH & SDH, ethernet, ADSL, ISDN, PSTN, RF, to defined standards.
Perform on site fault finding and problem solving
Undertake site surveys to identify existing equipment, cable routes and redundant equipment
Produce and undertake planned works on live equipment carrying customer services without causing avoidable outages
Produce and work to rigorous RAMS, following Arqiva SHE guidelines
Undertake audits of 3rd party and in-house installations and ensuring any errors are corrected
Generate and provide clean data, with up to date As-builts, red line and rack layout back to the design team
Be accountable for quality of installations, with a strong focus on Arqiva standards and ensure this is enforced company wide
Engage with customers and suppliers to maintain trusted partnerships
Focus on continuous improvement for the wider business needs
Requirements
AC/DC accredited (Arqiva Standard) desirable
Fibre Handling & Safety desirable
Required Expertise:
Quality Standards and SHE: adherence to standards and specifications for high quality and safe working practices in area of expertise
Structured cabling and infrastructure to a high standard
Familiar with processes, standards and engineering practices related to technical builds and infrastructure
Required Technical / Professional Skillset(s):
A good understanding of RF Awareness
Good interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a project team, and to develop good working relationships / practices with internal and external customers and suppliers.
